Submersible Water Pumps

Submersible Water Pumps

Submersible water pumps come in two main categories, pressure pumps and volume pumps

 Submersible pressure pumps

Pressure pumps produce pump a  lower volume of water at a higher pressure.  As an example a Dabs Divertron will pump 4500 lph with a static pressure of about 5 bar.  All pumps have a pump performance curve supplied with the instructions so that you know how the pump will perform with various flows of water.  For more information relating to pump performance charts please click here

Submersible volume pumps

Volume pumps will expel a much greater volume of water at a lower pressure.  This sort of pump would be used to drain water from a pond, cellar or other area that you need to drain quickly.  As a general rule volume pumps have a much lower wattage motor and you will normally see static water pressure quoted of about 1 bar or 10 metres of head.
