Barbed Tee Joint 16mm - 1/2 Inch Bsp Threaded Branch

Barbed T Joint Branch 1/2" Male Thread

A barbed Tee fitting with a 1/2" male threaded.  The large barbs make sure that the fitting once fitted stays fitted unlike other domestic brands that can only operate and pressures of about 2 bar  The connector is made from a strong industrial grade UV stabilized plastic.  The connector can be used on any thin walled pipe like LDPE water pipe or Netafim pressure compensated drip pipe.

  • Simple push fit connector
  • Can be used to join pipes together with a 16mm outside diameter or a 13 mm inside diameter
  • UV stabilized plastic
  • Once fitted the joint is rated to 6 bar
  • Made in Greece

Fitting

These more industrial type push fit fittings have a much larger and sharper barb than the more retail fittings.  Because of this more effort is required in order to fit these to the pipe.  The end of the pipe that needs joining should be heated using either very hot water or some form of blow torch.  If you do use a blow torch then the end of the pipe should be positioned in the flame for 2 seconds if the pipe is black and 1 second if it is brown.  The flame should be directed down the centre of of the pipe rather than on 1 side.  Now push the barbed fitting in to the pipe.  If you have overheated the pipe it will fold back on itself.  If this is the case cut the pipe to a clean point and try again.  Once the fitting is in they can only be removed by cutting the pipe.  These are extremely durable and will give you piece of mind when leaving you irrigation systems

How to measure a thread size

All (or most) thread sizes used in water fittings in the home and garden are measured in BSP (British Standard Pipe Thread). BSP can sometimes be referred to as BSPF or the Whitworth Pipe Thread. Pipe thread can be parallel or tapered depending on the use that the fitting is going to be used for.

This standard is used in the UK and it ensures that items that are used in the gas, water and Hydraulics industry are compatible. For example when you connect your washing machine to the mains water the adapter will use a standard BSP ¾” thread. This standard is used in many parts of the World outside of the United States.

Each thread can be measured using the very simple table below and there is no need to look at the number of threads per inch

To summarize the simplest way to identify which thread you have is to measure the outside diameter (male thread) or the inside diameter for a female thread

BSP Thread 1/4" 3/8" 1/2" 3/4" 1" 11/4" 11/2" 2"
Male Thread O/D mm 13 17 21 26.5 33.6 42 48 60
Female Thread I/D mm 11.5 15 18.6 24 30 38.5 45 57
Threads per inch (Take no Notice Of This) 19 19 19 14 14 11 11 11
