How to Install A Solenoid Valve

How to Install A Solenoid Valve

Most solenoid valves used in the irrigation industry are operated by a low voltage 24 volt ac current.  This is supplied by a control unit which has been installed remotley from the valves.

When installing a solenoid valve

Do

Install with the arrow pointing in the direction of flow

Use a manifold or similar swivel type fitting so that the valve can be removed easily should it ever become faulty

Keep the valve clean while installing the unit

Make sure that the solenoid part of the valve is properly tightened

Make sure that the water supply is filtered before it gets to the valve.  For example of filters please click here

Make sure that you use gel connectors that are waterproof when connecting the low voltage leads

Do Not

Allow dirt to enter the valve during installation

Connect more than 3 valves per control unit terminals

Remove the solenoid part of the valve in a dirty water filled hole
